San Francisco avenue named after Related Press photographer accountable for iconic Iwo Jima WWII photograph



Joe Rosenthal was initially rejected by the US Military as a photographer as a consequence of poor eyesight. Nevertheless, he then went on to seize one of the enduring photographs of World Battle II whereas working for The Related Press – US Marines elevating the flag on the Japanese island of Iwo Jima.

Rosenthal died in 2006, on the age of 94, and now he will probably be additional commemorated with a block in downtown San Francisco named after him.
